ZAER: Contemporary History Working Group on the Extreme Right

The Contemporary History Working Group on the Extreme Right = Zeithistorischer Arbeitskreis Extreme Rechte (ZAER) is an interdisciplinary network that contributes to the contemporary historical study of the extreme right in the German-speaking world.

Since its founding in February 2019 in Potsdam, the working group has organized conferences and workshops to foster opportunities for academic exchange and networking. Its aim is to systematize and enhance research on the extreme right in the German-speaking context. The group investigates organizations, practices, and ideas of the extreme right and its broader milieu. It also examines the social impact of these movements as well as the reactions they provoke.

ZAER collaborates closely with research fields such as racism and nationalism studies and other relevant disciplines. We seek to strengthen the dialogue between academic and non-academic institutions, including those active in educational and civic engagement work.

ZAER uses a mailing list for communication. Those interested in joining can request inclusion by email at: mailingliste[at]zeitgeschichte-extreme-rechte.de. Please include a brief explanation of your interest in one or two sentences and, if possible, indicate your institutional affiliation.
