You won't find an isolated campus in Fribourg: the city is the campus! With 10,000 students out of a total of 40,000 inhabitants, the city's life is driven by the university like nowhere else.
Bilingualism: an opportunity
Fribourg is home to the only bilingual university in Switzerland. In almost all fields of study, students have the opportunity to study in German, French or both languages. Internationally organised study programmes are offered in English.

Since its foundation in 1889, the University of Fribourg has had an international reputation. Today, students of 110 nationalities study here.

Compared to other Swiss cities, the cost of living in Fribourg is relatively low. In the city or in the surrounding area, it is quite easy for students to find a room in a hostel or in a shared apartment at an affordable price.
An idyllic living environment
The city of Freiburg is a medieval jewel. The historic centre with its Gothic cathedral, narrow streets, old bridges, bistros and picturesque squares make it a particularly pleasant place to live. Its location at the foot of the Pre-Alps and less than 20 kilometres from Lake Murten offers a wide range of recreational and sporting activities.
