ERS meeting 2026 in Fribourg

Our annual ERS meeting will take place in Fribourg on 5 December 2026, coinciding with the traditional St. Nicholas Festival, one of the city’s most cherished traditions. This gives our guests the opportunity to discover this special Fribourg tradition alongside the academic programme. We have deliberately set aside time for those who wish to visit the St. Nicholas Market, watch the traditional procession (Cortège), and listen to St. Nicholas’s speech.

The meeting will focus on the presentation of the ERS summer schools and the exchange of experiences, as well as a student conference on “Experiences of Multilingualism”. Building on the theme of this year’s summer school, the conference will highlight the personal experiences and perspectives of our participants.

In the evening, we will hold our traditional cooking workshop, followed by a shared dinner. This year’s theme is “A Culinary Journey into the Soviet Era”. We will then round off the evening in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, either by spending time together or enjoying karaoke and dancing, depending on what everyone feels like.
