Travel to Fribourg

Train: Fribourg is located along Switzerland's busiest rail line, which runs from Zurich to Geneva via Bern and Lausanne. While French TGV trains service Lausanne and Geneva, German ICE train connect to Bern and Zurich. An express line connects Zurich with Milan.

Air: Fribourg is connected by train to the international airports of Geneva and Zurich. Direct connections take around 1h30min and run once per hour. Train times and fares can be found at sbb.ch. You also have the option of choosing the airports of Bern and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, but these are not connected to Fribourg directly.

Car: Parking places around or in the city are available but expensive. It is best to arrange for a parking place with your hotel, or use park-and-ride parking places (around CHF 10/day) at the outskirts of the city. Fribourg itself is small, so that all distances (e.g., most hotels to university) can be managed by foot in less than 30 min. Alternatively, busses run every few minutes.
