Congratulations to Laurent Paccaud, recipient of the 2026 Young Researcher Prize oft the Swiss Sociological Association!
Laurent Paccaud received the award for his article “Lives Worth Living: Social Organization of Death of Athletes with Physical Disabilities,” published in Alter – European Journal of Disability Research / Revue européenne de recherche sur le handicap.
The article examines the processes through which marginalized social groups build lives that are perceived as worth living, offering an important contribution to the sociology of disability, sport and social recognition.
The prize consists of
